I’m relatively new to saltwater fishing. Getting a good idea of when to go for what and where has been somewhat of a challenge. While the weather was cold, I thought I would see if I could develop something to help with that, and hopefully help others too.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife maintains a website with frequent creel reports – which consist of WDFW representatives interviewing anglers at selected fishing sites thought the Sound. The sampling is conducted on a random schedule. This sort of data is great, but digging through the tables and tables of reports can take a while.
This website scraps the public WDFW creel report data, and displays it as a chart. Pick the area of the sound you are interested in, and which fish you want to see, and the data on historic and recent catch rates will be shown. I’ve learned a lot making this. However, I can’t guarantee accuracy. If you see something wrong please let me know. If your interested in how this was made, I have a some detail written up.
